Situated on the banks of the Loire river near to Saumur, the vineyards and beautiful rolling countryside, is my art studio where I run workshops for adults and children.

Who am I?
Garry Smart
I am an experienced teacher trained in Art and Education in Chichester, West Sussex, England and now retired to France and living in the small village of Cunault situated on the banks of the Loire between Angers to the west and Saumur to the east.
I have had thirty years experience of teaching children between 4 and 13 years of age, running Art Courses for teachers and running many family based workshops in drawing, painting and print-making. I have been involved in exhibiting paintings in art trails, in and around Brighton, London, and in France.
I use sketch book work to develop ideas into gouache, and acrylic paintings. I work in both representational and abstract compositions, and also in painted wood pieces for display in gardens.

In walking distance of the art studio is a very well presented Manoir that provides B&B accommodation. The Manoir is situated above the Loire river and has many spectacular views.

Course information
What I can offer

Primarily fun and encouragement! Courses can be tailor made for adults and or children. I very much believe in developing ideas through a process of design, drawing sketches and using techniques to refine ideas in order to translate these into painting or print making.
Costs are inclusive of all materials, although participants can bring their own equipment if they prefer. The studio is both warm in winter and cool in summer and is a well resourced space with many reference materials, internet access and good lighting.
Adjacent to the studio space, up a small lane, is the garden with picturesque views across the village and to the church. This and the many fine views in the village or by the river could be used as a starting point for art work.
Refreshments are included in the prices and for daily courses morning coffee/tea, lunch and afternoon beverages will be provided.

Half day costs: 10am to 1pm:- €40 - children under fifteen €20
Daily costs: 9.30am to 12.30pm, lunch, 1.30pm to 4pm:- €80 - children under fifteen €40
A combination of days and half days can be booked.
Groups working in the studio will be limited to four people.
